Karen Tobin (nacida en Pensilvania) es una cantante de música country. Después de mudarse a Los Ángeles, California en 1980, Tobin firmó con Arista Records. Lanzó dos sencillos para el sello, pero nunca se lanzó ningún álbum. Después de ser descubierta por Keith Stegall, grabó varios demos antes de firmar un contrato de grabación con Atlantic Records Nashville en 1991. El álbum debut de Tobin, Carolina Smokey Moon, fue lanzado en octubre de 1991. El primer sencillo del álbum, la canción principal, se convirtió en un vídeo que se transmitió por CMT y TNN.
