Ellen McIlwaine (nacida el 1 de octubre de 1945, Nashville, Tennessee) es una cantante y compositora estadounidense conocida por su carrera como guitarrista de diapositivas.
Nacida en Nashville, McIlwaine fue adoptada por misioneros y creció en Kobe, Japón, dándole exposición a múltiples idiomas y culturas. Ella asistió a la Academia Canadiense, una escuela internacional K-12 en Kobe, graduándose en 1963. Su primera experiencia en música abriendo para Ray Charles, Fats Domino y profesor Longhair canciones en el piano que ella oyó en la radio japonesa. Al regresar a los Estados Unidos, compró una guitarra, comenzando una carrera escénica en Atlanta, Georgia, a mediados de los años sesenta.
